It was held on 3rd October 2014 at safari Park hotel .The dinner event aimed at celebrating the diplomatic relations between Kenya and South Korea. Since Korea first established its Embassy in Kenya, way back in 1964.The event also marked the 4347th Korean Foundation Day. Among the notable figures present were the chief Guest Honourable Ekwe Ethuro, speaker, senate and his Excellency Mr. Choi Donggyou Korea’s ambassador to Kenya.
Their speeches reflected the successful bilateral relation between South Korea and Kenya for the past 50 years in the various sectors such as energy, technology, and business etc, a key example being the establishment of Korean Studies centre at the University of Nairobi in 2013.They pledged to continue promoting the harmonious relations between the two countries.
Performances for the night came from Korean goodwill; ambassador to Kenya musician Rufftone, King Sejong Institute Students and University of Nairobi Korean studies students. The University of Nairobi Korean studies students under the leadership and direction from their Lecturer Miss Park Yuhjin sang a rendition of the famous Korean folk song ‘The Arirang’.
Along the corridors Korean firms such as Samsung Electronics and LG had their products on display. These included TVs, Mobile handsets, fridges and other sets of electronic goods. Far from all the plenty of food offered, Korean delicacies were present and so the audience enjoyed in equal measure.
